Personally, I think its all political correctness. Women have to be portrayed as intelligent and the men like morons. Its all just to make up for years of treating women as inferiors, right? I think any episode of the Apprentice will show you that both men and women can be smart and dumb... even at the same time.

But I still think it's funny!

Haha .. Stoney, great post. Actually this has also kind of ticked me off a few times where males are shown to be complete idiots. Let's not even talk about commercials .... look at the "sitcoms". "King of Queens", "Ray Romano" and many more.

I was born in Ukraine, and came here at the age of 11. Still ... I remember that back in Ukraine/Russia (same thing)... men were the ones to fix things, men were the ones to kind of keep their eyes on the finances...

If you watch American TV plus the commercials, you can easily think that men are complete idiots / children who, as you mentioned, only drink beer, watch TV and wait for their wives to let them know about their finances and if the roof needs to be fixed. If that's the case in USA, I truly feel bad for American women because "at the end of the day", a woman wants to have a "man" by her side, not a child.

I will not sit here and say that I am a MAN and I never behave silly and I can fix everything ... heck ... the only thing I know about fixing cars is how to change oil, tires and few other little things, BUT I can not imagine myself not knowing what is going on in the bank, not knowing the condition of my house, or loosing the control of a house I own with my wife...

P.S. Only Dunkin Donuts was brave enough to have a commercial where a guy bought 2 cups of Iced Coffee and by the time he got out of the place and had a few sips of the drink, he completely forgot about his wife/gf waiting for him in the car. ............. Guess what ... I never saw that commercial again. (but it was funny)

P.P.S Stoney ... the bad part is that society is trying to educate everyone (young generation) that being "just a guy" (idiot, dumb, child, fat, clueless...) is perfectly normal. I see it these days where guys joke how they resemble those idiots on TV ... is that something to be proud off? Or are they just trying to fit in with where the media is taking them?

But dumb, chubby, white males are funny. What's worse is that TV often portrays the dumb, chubby, white male as the one who gets the skinny, smoking-hot, intelligent wife. My wife hates that! But as a dumb, chubby, white male myself, who has married a skinny, smoking-hot, intelligent women, I don't quite see her point!
