Ah, YouTube. You never know what you’re going to find! This week I discovered a little treasure from the 60′s featuring my boy Leonard, the original Spock. Everyone is aware of Captain Kirk’s vocal abilities, but Spock released a few albums as well. Take a break and watch Leonard sing the Ballad of Bilbo Baggins on the 60′s variety show Malibu U.

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted on the EMP blog. I’ve been busy catching up on episodes of Shark Tank and counting down to the release of Star Trek Into the Darkness. If you don’t remember who I am, I’m Max Speed, the guy on the Pole Position Marketing team who says things other team members wouldn’t dare say. Maybe that’s why they haven’t let me post for awhile?
While the rest of the team would like me to share some web marketing news, I’d like to share something from the final frontier… space. Here in Ohio, we’ve had a nice week of sunny weather in the mid-70′s, and it’s amazing how a week of sunshine makes you feel! It’s made us feel so good, that part of the crew has made a resolution to start working off that winter weight with an afternoon plank break. I’m realizing just how out-of-shape I am! After the planks, it’s back to the desk to catch our breath and catch up on the latest happenings in the web marketing world. Here’s a sampling of what the crew has been reading this week.
This week our crew chief has been in the Big Easy imparting his SEO wisdom to the attendees at PubCon. While the chief is away, the crew will play. Well, we managed to squeeze in a bit of play time with Cylon, the chief’s lovable dog who’s been a little forlorn. So, what’s been happening in web marketing this week? Spring has been rather elusive in our neck of the woods. Actually, downright spiteful with temperatures coming in right around freezing–until today. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and we’re decidedly more cheerful. While we had to wait what seemed like an eternity for warmer temperatures, we don’t want to make you wait for some great reads about link building, analytics and content creation.
From Google’s announcement that it will close Google Reader in July—some people aren’t too happy—to nifty ways to optimize a PDF for search, we’ve read some great articles this week on analytics, SEO, link building and content marketing. We felt the chill as a blizzard slammed the New England states this past weekend, we were shocked when Olympic hero Oscar Pistorius was charged with murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, and we wondered if aliens really were invading as pictures emerged today of a 10-ton meteor speeding through the Russian sky, creating a sonic shockwave that injured more than 1,000 people. We thought it best to stay holed up in our office finding great PPC and link-building articles to share with you.
We’re dying to see Daryl take down more walkers—and perhaps his long-lost brother Merle—on this Sunday’s mid-season opener of The Walking Dead. Oh how we’ve missed you and the gang, Rick! Even if you are a little off your rocker. But who wouldn’t be in a zombie apocalypse?
