6 Quora Tips to Drive More Traffic Overnight

Quora Tips for Driving Traffic

Over the last 3 months, I’ve driven 3,375 visits from Quora. More importantly, these visits ended up in 144 forum submissions on our website.

Quora is an extremely powerful question and answer platform that not enough website owners utilize for traffic. Well, let me rephrase that. [inlinetweet prefix=”” tweeter=”” suffix=””]Quora is an extremely powerful platform that not enough website owners utilize properly for traffic.[/inlinetweet] Just like any platform, there are certain nuances you need to understand to be successful.

In this post, I’m going to walk you through some tips to follow to have success driving traffic from Quora.

Tip #1: Create a Relevant Profile

Getting set up is straight forward, so I won’t belabor that here. However, I do need to cover the content of your profile.

It’s important you craft your profile around your website’s niche. For example, let’s say you want to drive more traffic to your website about fishing. If your title reads:

Ryan Stewart, Digital Marketing Expert

People aren’t going to take you seriously. I write about digital marketing, so my profile is all about digital marketing. If I were to launch a site about fishing, I would create a new Quora profile dedicated to that expertise.

Guideline #2: Post to Relevant Threads

You’ve got to answer questions on highly active threads. Otherwise, you won’t get much traffic from your answer.

In addition, you need to find existing questions that are related to the content you plan to promote. 90% of the traffic I’ve gotten from Quora came from a post I wrote about blog SEO, so I’ll use that as an example.

Head to the Quora search bar and type in keywords related to your content.

How to search topics on Quora

Skim through the results and look for questions with:

  1. A lot of answers
  2. A lot of upvotes
  3. A lot of comments and shares

Selecting Quora questions to answer

All of these indicate that the thread is actively viewed by Quora users and ensures your response will be seen by a large audience.

Tip #3: Don’t Sell!

[inlinetweet prefix=”” tweeter=”” suffix=””]Quora is a platform to promote content, not your business.[/inlinetweet]

This is important, so let me repeat it. Quora is a platform to promote content, not your business.

That means you need to have quality content already on your website: blog posts, wikis, forum threads, etc. If you try and post links to your home page, service page or product page, you’ll have no success.

Tip #4: Quality Counts Too

Remember that saying we were taught in kindergarten?

If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

When it comes to content promotion it’s very similar.

If you don’t have anything valuable to add, don’t add anything at all.

If you start spamming threads, you’ll get booted. Make sure what you post is relevant and adds value to the question asked. That means that both the answer to your question and the content behind the link you post need to be quality.

Your answer should be thorough, well thought out and perfectly written. In order to maximize the exposure of your answer, you need Upvotes from other Quora users. The more Upvotes you get, the higher your answer will go within the thread.

Quora users will only Upvote top notch answers – make sure you put a lot of time into your answer before publishing!

Tip #5: Use Multimedia to Grab Attention

When you’re responding to a thread with a ton of answers, it’s important to stand out. Taking advantage of the ability to upload images or embed YouTube videos is a great way to grab users’ attentions.

Using multimedia on Quora

They help to break up the monotony of the Quora answer interface and will greatly increase the chances of a user stopping by to read your answer.

In addition, visuals are a great way to drive home a point and help improve the quality of your answers. Remember, higher quality = more Upvotes = more exposure.

Tip #6: Consistency is Key

Quora users trust those that are regular voices in the community. More trust = more clicks on your links. Schedule a regular time to find relevant threads and post answers. I have a sticky note on my desk at home that says:

Tuesday – find a new Thread!

This reminds me that every Tuesday I need hit up Quora to jump in on a new discussion. This dedication to the network has built me a following. Every time I write something new, those followers are notified. If they like my answer, they’ll Upvote it.

More Upvotes = more exposure = more clicks.

Closing

Quora is a powerful content promotion platform that can drive quality, engaged users to your site. Just like any powerful network, there are specific nuances you need to be aware of to have success. Follow these simple guidelines and I guarantee you’ll see instant results.
