Search engines are not all that count. In fact, search engines count less than users do. Sacrificing quality, branding and usability ultimately sacrifices long-term success. If its the quick, flash-in-the-pan results people want, then by all means register www.keyword.com. But a quality business model that is not!

Are you aware that there is at least one well-known website service provider that strongly encourages hyphenated domain names? Most of the sites they tout as successful have hyphenated names.

They justify it by saying a large percentage of their sites rank very high in the search engines, and that it's search engine traffic you're seeking, after all. Their schtick is to do an extremely keyword-rich domain name, even if it's long, and use the hyphens because they are easier to read. They are very strong in that opinion. Search engines are all that count.

What do you all think of this?
