For those who have been in the search game long enough you might remember the snap.com search engine. If I remember correctly it was even run by NBC for a while before going defunct. Snap.com was recently re-launched in beta this week and they are trying to stir the search pot to lead the industry in a whole new direction.
News.com has an article about the new snap, their intentions, goals, etc.
I played around a bit with some of the features and while interesting I’m not sure how they will play out with the average searcher. I’ll actually have to try it when performing an actual search for something I want or need, as its difficult otherwise to judge quality of the search results and the meaningfulness of the refinement data.
