In addition to what has been stated above:

in 8/5/05 Peter Kinne wrote in IDFuel about Limitation and Inspiration. I loved his comments so much that I printed them out and saved them in a file. This is what Peter said:

"Next time you're presented with a set of design requirements that seem absurd or just plain annoying, try to face them with enthusiasm. This is an opportunity to simplify your design, or to create a clever mechanism that has an exceptional wow factor to it. You don't have to feel like it's compromising your design, but rather presents you with a well-defined space within which to create."

As an SE professional, the advent of personalized and local search is a well-defined space within which to create top-notch customer copy that also works in search.

Well said, search results are not equal. Too many people focus on the wrong thing and there's not enough focus on usability and conversions as you point out. It doesn't matter how much traffic you get from the search engines if that traffic isn't converting. But there are a lot companies that love to check their vanity phrases and pat themselves on the back when they see themselves in a top spot in the serps.

Sounds like personalized search will turn the world of SEO upside down... well if you're an SEO that's not ready for it.
