For example, polepositionsucks.com is not registered. In order to give yourself a real measure of protection, you would have to register a large number of domains which can get expensive and still may not be all that effective. I'm not a lawyer, but I think it may be better to get your company name trademarked, and then you can better defend it's use in varations of domain names that include the trademark.
