You're absolutely right about the SEO work shifting to be more than just ranking a page for the top 5 positions. The days when a client would come and say "my 1 word keyword is so and so and I want it to be in top 3" are changing (I hope). 

I know of many projects that started this way and when they achieved those high rankings the sales were not that great. Why? Well because the keywords were wrong. Because these guys would look at worthless tools and pick words that had the highest number near them.</description>
