Yahoo Enters Desktop Search Arena

January 11th, Yahoo’s Desktop Search Tool moved into Beta and was released to the public. Yahoo’s Desktop Search is based upon a specialized search technology developed and licensed by X1 .(a Pasadena based software startup)

In my opinion the release is a major disappointment and another glaring example of Yahoo’s lack of innovation and originality. In fact their is little difference between Yahoo’s release and the original X1 version. Only a slightly modified interface and of course Yahoo style icons. And while Yahoo boasts of many features including built in video and image player as well as a preview pane for files and e-mails, they fail to mention that these are all standard features of the X1 tool.

Max Speed

If the Pole Position Marketing team had a muse—and it does—it would be Max Speed. We love Max’s occasionally off-color, usually amusing and always pointed “Maxisms.” (Maybe “Maxims” would be a better word.) Max gives voice to some of the things we think but, bound by professional decorum, aren’t permitted to say. At least, not out loud.
