Links Still Matter. Don’t Let Anyone Tell You Otherwise.

There is a common misconception that links don’t matter in today’s algorithms. And while that may be true of one of the not-so-major search engines, it certainly isn’t true of the big two where links still matter: Google and Bing.

Not long ago, Google’s Matt Cutts noted that Google has experimented with an algorithm that didn’t factor in links. But, according to Cutt’s, the results suffered greatly.

So what does that tell us? Links are here to stay for a long while. [Tweet This] I’m sure Google will continue to toy around with this, or maybe they’ll put their efforts into tracking link clicks. What’s better than not counting any links? Counting only links that get clicked!

Whether that will ever happen or not, link building is still a mainstay for web marketing success. But let’s stay focused on quality links that benefit your audience. As the engines continue to get smarter, we know that anything that benefits customers will always weigh heavier in the results.
