RIIIIICOOOOOOOOOOLA!

Have any of you heard [Link no longer available] Ricola’s latest promotion? The ad really caught my attention because the concept is a great one. Basically, “mystery coughers” that act as agents for Ricola will cough in a public place somewhere in the US, and if you are a someone lucky enough to offer them a tasty Ricola cough drop, you will win up to one million dollars! Now that is brilliant in my opinion. I mean come on, what is a couple million bucks to a company like Ricola? I bet the increased revenues will far outweigh the cost of the prize and promotion efforts. Also, this type of promotion should have a significant viral effect, as people will start handing out Ricola’s to cough sufferers everywhere! Brings a whole new meaning to word-of-mouth advertising.

Max Speed

If the Pole Position Marketing team had a muse—and it does—it would be Max Speed. We love Max’s occasionally off-color, usually amusing and always pointed “Maxisms.” (Maybe “Maxims” would be a better word.) Max gives voice to some of the things we think but, bound by professional decorum, aren’t permitted to say. At least, not out loud.
