One of the early misconceptions about SEO is that it’s a job for the IT department. Of course, back when SEO first came about, just about everything computer related was considered a function of the IT department!
But many still hold to that concept that SEO, and web marketing at large, is something the computer guys can do. While many are starting to understand that the IT guys know very little about web marketing, there are still those that haven’t fully grasped the “marketing” part of the equation.
Many businesses still hand their web marketing to the web developers (as opposed to the IT team.) While that’s a step in the right direction it’s still very far off the mark.
